Wellbeing after work

After a long day/week at work it's very easy to just head to the sofa, binge watch Netflix and snack to your hearts content. This usually makes us feel lethargic and lazy. I thought I would give some top tips on keeping your wellbeing on track particularly after work with 4 simple steps!

1. Exercise

Negative energy from a hard day at work can soon be expelled through exercise. If you find yourself stressing about work for hours after you have left, then exercise is definitely a good idea. No matter if you prefer yoga, running, combat, spin, or a gym session, exercise helps increase endorphins, which send positive messages to our brain and improves our wellbeing and mood!

2. Me time

Our lives are busy, and sometimes it might not be possible to get 'me time' but if you can try a couple of times a week you will see huge benefits in your wellbeing. Take time to do the things you like to do, read a book, draw a picture, paint your nails, or simply relax with a cuppa and put your feet up!

3. Fuel your body

Your body works at its optimal capacity when you look after it. Exercise and healthy eating, with all the vital vitimins and minerals our body needs. If you find yourself reaching for junk food after work for comfort, this is only likely going to make you feel worse. Pick up something that your body will thank you for such as fruit and veg and you will start to feel the benefits.

4. Beauty Sleep

A schedule when it comes to sleeping can be so important. For some with hectic lives, children and other commitments it can be impossible to go to bed the same time every night. But if a routine can be established your body will naturally start to unwind and be ready to sleep when your head hits the pillow, instead of tossing and turning. Tiredness can always make problems seem a lot worse than they are, so it is important to try and get as much shut eye as you can before work. The recommended sleep time for an adult is 7-8 hours

I hope these tips are somewhat helpful, and can be adapted to your routine to make a healthier and happy you :)
